Biography

Since leaving office in 1992, the Honorable Mikhail S. Gorbachev has founded several organization and initiatives that continue his work. Most notably he is President of the International Foundation for Socio-Economic and Political Studies (The Gorbachev Foundation) based in Moscow and Green Cross International headquartered in Geneva.

He is the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize (1990), the Orders of Lenin, the Red Banner of Labour, and the Badge of Honour. Mikhail Gorbachev's late wife, Raisa Gorbachev, passed away in 1999. The have one daughter, Irina Virganskaya, and two granddaughters, Ksenia and Anasatasia.

He resides in Moscow.
