New meet-up created in Quebec

Status:
In Progress
Description:

We opened the first meetup group in quebec under the topic of 1tth hour action.

The goal is about building public awareness about the urgency to do something about global warming.
We are experimenting on different ways to do that. Team work is big part of it and having fun doing it as well.

We want to mount different presentations in a modular form and present it as a team.

The meetings starts with a short presentation by each member on how to present his modeule to the public.

I invite you to have a look at http://11thhour.meetup.com/40

We need Clean Energy!

Awareness and our attention span are falling short of the goal when it comes to the energy crisis. Our government is part of the solution that can help us take action against the climate crisis. Congress left Washington without addressing the energy crisis, gas prices or solutions to the climate crisis. Addressing the issue once or twice will not due in our economy. So many things are going on at once we need to be reminded of what is happening every day. That our planet is perishing along with us if we do not take action and change our ways of living.
As the government's interest in the energy crisis dies. Our future dies as well. Instead of acting and supporting people who are already acting without the governments help they sit and push the problems aside.
America can take action to generate 100% of our electricity from clean renewable sources and we can do it in a time frame that will show us results in a short amount of time. With the help of wind and solar we could change our planet and our future into a more pleasant one. Our government is lacking the enthusiasm, interest, and progress that we would like to see in this movement. As a citizen of the US i believe we can change and i see change happening all over. People are beginning to see the problems and the obstacles. But in order for us to make massive changes and to be able to conquer this issue we will need our governments support. Be the change we need!

i have sent thise letter to several editors of local newspapers with the help of www.wecansolveit.org hopefully this will make an impact. Help us solve it by visiting www.wecansolveit.org

How to change our consumption patterns?

I´m just starting this blog because I got a few questions and I´m seeking various opinions

1 Do you consider yourself a part of the consuming masses?

2 You think First World Countries should make an example on how to addapt our consumption patterns to the increasingly davastating situation our world is going through right now?

3 You think the United States are sponsoring the same environmental consciousness as European Countries?

4 What can I do about used batteries (AA, AAA, etc)? How do we dispose of them without harming the environment?
