10:30pm Thursday night I sit down on the couch to watch some TV. I am flipping channels to see if I prefer watching Jay Leno, David Letterman or Nightline. I make my decision, but I still have 5 minutes until the show starts, so I flip over to the Planet Green channel, and low and behold there is Leila Connors on Supper Club with Tom Bergeron. I only caught the last half hour of the show, but I watched the show in its entirety on Friday afternoon.

I have seen all the previous Supper Club shows and have enjoyed some more than others mostly due to the topic of conversation. I really enjoyed this show the most because of just one particular point that was addressed that has had me thinking a lot over the last several months.

The point was brought up during dinner that some people don’t want to be inconvenienced with doing a simple ‘green’ thing like carry cloth grocery bags with them to the store. Host Tom Bergeron commented that these people are not so much lazy, but just struggling to get through the day. Actress Aisha Tyler added that it’s not that people don’t care, it is just not as important to them as compared to their everyday pressures. I totally agree with both of them, and saw this first hand last year when confronted in a grocery store.

I was grocery shopping and I brought in with me as I always do my reusable grocery bags. I only brought in 3 reusable bags and the grocery bagger had filled them up and started to put the few remaining items I still had left in a plastic bag. I immediately told him, please don’t put those few items in a plastic bag, just place them in the shopping cart and I will put them in a reusable bag when I get to my car. I always have a lot more bags in my car.

The woman behind me in line who was about my age, said, “Oh PLEASE! Do you really think that one plastic bag is going to ruin the world?”

I replied, “It’s one plastic bag here, and another there, and it all adds up. It’s no big deal to just bag these few items myself when I get to my car in order to help ensure we leave a healthy and livable planet for future generations. It’s a small sacrifice.”

She boldly replied, “I sacrifice plenty, in fact all I do is sacrifice, my whole life has been one big sacrifice.”

WOW! Bad choice of words on my part, I used the word…SACRIFICE. I didn’t mean to, but I obviously hit a nerve, or what Eckhart Tolle calls in his book A New Earth, a ‘Pain Body.’ You didn’t have to be a psychologist to know that this woman has a lot of unhappiness, pain and negativity inside her. So trying to have a discussion with this woman about the environmental importance of bringing your own grocery bags would have been futile.

The part of The 11th Hour that resonated with me the most was said by Wes Jackson at the end of the film, he says, “The deterioration of the environment, of our planet, is an outward mirror of an inner condition. Like inside, like outside, and that‘s the part of the great work.” I couldn’t agree more.

I was happy that The 11th Hour DVD included in the Special Features Section the Religious Perspective. I completely agree with what Rabbi Michael Lerner says, “The environmental movement has to develop a spiritual consciousness and a spiritual approach…The environmental movement not only has to teach the scientific fact, but about the new spiritual vision.”

The biggest disease on our planet is unhappiness because people perceive they are drowning in either debt, poor relationships, family pressures, job/career stresses, or poor health. They feel they are drowning victims always in survival mode. They have forgotten that they already know how to swim. They just need to be reminded of who they are…they ARE swimmers.

So I was thrilled to hear Leila talk about the premise of her next film which continues on the theme of - What’s going on in the world is a reflection of an inner condition. The film will address the questions…Why are we here? Who are we? What is God?...in relationship to the environment and our survival. I can’t wait for this one to come out.

Comme tu le sais maintenant, j'apprends des choses à chaque seconde, c'est une sorte de logique de cheminement mental qui me permet de comprendre ce qui va et ce qui ne va pas, et le pourquoi du comment.

J'ai eu une petite discussion avec le noir, tu sais, le père. Pour comprendre le délire de la famille, ce qu'il s'était passé depuis tout ce temps, tu sais, les pourquoi ci et pourquoi ça. Aujourd'hui, je lui ai demandé pourquoi me forcer à aller avec quelqu'un que je ne connais pas, qui ne m'aime pas, et qui s'en fout de moi. Je lui ai demandé des explications.

Le père dirige la mort, décide.

Nous sommes une famille de génies. J'ai mentit à propos de 2Pac, il est pas jaloux. Jésus c'est le 1er génie sacrifié. La jalousie vient du violet, Judas, le rouge et le bleu mélangés, le bien et le mal. Leonard de Vinci est le génie par excellence, celui que je respecte le plus... après Arthur. Il est les sciences, Arthur est la lettre et les arts. Vinci a créé un diamant, un fils, un junior. Arthur a créé un diamant dans le diamant de Vinci, une fille, son double. Le père a sacrifié Arthur pour que le secret reste caché là où personne n'irait le chercher, sauf moi, qui ai déplacé des montagnes pour le trouver. Le diamant dans le diamant est en vie en moi et tout autour de moi. Et ce diamant, c'est ton coeur.

Toi, tu as les sciences, l'argent, le pouvoir, tout ce dont un homme pourrait rêver.

Moi, je n'ai pas le matériel, mais finalement, j'ai tout.

Je t'ai ouvert mon coeur, et en même temps, j'ai ouvert celui de tout le monde. J'ai parlé des sacrifices avec le père, et il m'a fait comprendre que même les entités sont vicieuses et nous font croire des choses pour arriver à leurs fins, tout comme les sciences qui passent leur temps à manipuler le mental des gens pour mieux les retenir dans leurs filets. C'est ton travail ça. Me pousser à bout pour que je lâche le morceau ?

Ante est partie à partir du moment où j'ai rencontré Vinci. Il fallait une femme ayant vécu les mêmes choses qu'elle pour lui expliquer que la vengeance était une mauvaise voie, et que l'amour valait mieux. Il fallait que je la calme, et l'aide à pardonner. Rien n'est jamais acquis, le destin n'est pas tracé d'avance. Un génie émet une idée, mais nous sommes libres de la suivre ou pas. J'ai décidé de suivre ma famille, et aujourd'hui, je n'ai plus aucun regrets vis à vis de la vie que j'ai eue. Je suis heureuse parce que j'ai changé la musique, ouvert les yeux à la banlieue. Je leur ai donné mes couleurs et mes ailes, pour qu'ils se lèvent et cessent de penser qu'ils sont des moins que rien. Tu comprends, ils ont tellement été rabaissés par ta société... Je me suis battue pour relever le nom d'Arthur, et sauver ma petite soeur des loups. Elle est la pureté, le trésor de mon coeur, celle que je tente de protéger de la société de consommation et de Victoria. La petite soeur. Et en pensant à elle, j'ai aussi réussi à penser aux autres et à parler pour elles. En m'intéressant aux génies, j'ai ouvert la porte aux SDFs délaissés par cette société, et à obtenir leur respect. En trouvant le père, la mort, j'ai trouvé la vie.

Celui que j'aime, il restera toujours en moi, parce que ce sont ses yeux que j'ai suivis. Depuis le début. Tu lui ressembles, mais tu n'es pas lui. Ce pourquoi je refuse de sacrifier Arthur comme le père, parce qu'il est mon coeur, mon trésor, mon tout. Cet amour, on l'a conduit tous seuls lui et moi, c'est son invention, pas celle de Vinci.

Ma mission était de ne pas te laisser tomber, jamais te laisser tomber, parce que tu es aussi un diamant. Je suis heureuse aujourd'hui parce que j'ai été jusqu'au bout, je ne t'ai pas lâché, et je t'ai délivré mon message. Ensembles, on aurait pu faire des choses immenses, deux génies qui collaborent pour la première fois, c'était le projet. Maintenant, je pense que tu utilises mal ton génie, et tu m'épuises physiquement et moralement. Tu m'as imposé le combat lorsque je t'ai toujours tendu la main.

Ce qu'Ante m'a forcée à faire à la fin, c'est à dire te supplier de me venir en aide, m'a achevée. C'était trop. Je ne suis plus d'accord. Je ne veux pas aller avec toi. Ante est détournée, de ce fait, je suis libre, si je meurs, personne n'explosera. Elle est partie.

Maintenant, je n'aime pas ton mode de vie, je n'aime pas ton argent, ton image, ni ta façon d'être avec moi. Je trouve ça moche et prétentieux. Trop d'amour tue l'amour et c'est ce qu'il s'est passé. Alors je préfère faire comme toujours, rester avec Arthur, parce qu'en vérité, il ne peut plus mourir. Je refuse de collaborer avec cette société parce que je la déteste. S'il faut traîner par terre, crever de faim à cause de ce système pourri, je le ferai, parce que chaque chose est pure beauté à mes yeux, que ce soit une poussière ou un papier par terre. J'ai pas besoin de ton luxe parce qu'il est trop parfait, sans surprise, ennuyeux à souhait. La beauté n'a pas de courbes, elle est imprévue, surprenante, et c'est ce qui la rend belle.

Si tu ne comprends pas de quoi je parle, j'en suis désolée, mais je ne perdrais plus mon temps à t'expliquer. La marche des nouveaux hommes a commencé, et j'espère qu'ils pourront me rejoindre un jour. Avec toi, ça aurait été plus rapide, mais j'ai plus envie de te donner quoique ce soit. Je te propose plutôt de chercher toi même. Je ferai ma vie de mon côté, avec quelqu'un qui saura m'aimer comme je le mérite, et tu feras ta vie de ton côté, avec une femme qui te conviendra mieux que toi. Maintenant que tu connais ton coeur, tu peux commencer à aimer et respecter quelqu'un comme il se doit. En fait, tu fais ce que tu veux, c'est ton choix.

Moi, je choisis la liberté, parce qu'avec toi, ce serait m'enfermer encore dans une prison. Quitte à passer ma vie en laisse, autant respirer le grand air et rester moi même. Je rirai, je souffrirai, et alors ? C'est moins coûteux que toi. 

Quant au reste, ça te regarde plus.

 When Mike Haney first presented the idea behind the technology behind

www.greenplanetsearch.com, he was laughed down. Virtually, of course. “Everyone can

dream,: scoffed one, erroneously.

A few people were intrigued. The combination of Haney’s vision of a Flash-driven search

engine, and the plan to create a dazzling environmental education resource, eventually

attracted a loose-knit corps of collaborators, most of whom have never met in person first

among them Andre Roussille, a French computer programmer, and now part owner of the

company.

The upshot from this collaboration, apart from the stunningly beautiful homepage, is the

only people involved in the creation of the search engine, is that the only people involved

in the development devoted environmentalists, who genuinely wish to disseminate good

information to students and educators.

Later, through a similar serendipity, Mr. Haney teamed up with a veteran journalist who

agreed to lend his services to the site, building from scratch a source of environmental

news and policy analysis.

Advertisers will be strictly vetted by the companies shareholders, limited to companies

that are making a meaningful contribution the planet’s health.

The final result, which was launched this week, is the culminating of thousands of

hours of work, and more than a few false starts.

It boasts easily navigable information, experiments, lesson plans, presented in an interactive and graphically enhanced format,

and has an exclusive global climate change resource section for teachers and kids.

The new Clean Air Campaign, Running Out of Air launches today in Maricopa County Arizona as part of a long term battle to make Valley air healthier to breathe. Running Out of Air is a renewed attempt to get people involved, and hopes to help change behavior in order to reduce the teeny bits of soot, grime and dust that make up the brown cloud that hangs over the Phoenix skyline.

Running Out of Air $1.4 million effort will ask residents to “take action and make the commitment to cleaning up their air.” County residents will be asked to go to the campaign web site and pledge to change habits to help reduce pollution.

Some of the action items in the pledge include using rakes instead of leaf blowers, and avoiding using gas-powered lawn and garden equipment. I personally don’t feel the need to have grass living in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, so that is why I had all my grass removed from my property many years ago, and replaced it with a cactus rock garden, and native water-efficient plants and shrubs. I went from needing weekly landscaping maintenance to about once every three months. Plus, here in the desert we have to plant a new winter lawn every fall, and keeping your lawn green and healthy takes a lot of water.

I am a believer that all the little things that each one of us can do really adds up. We can all do things to stop being part of the problem, and start becoming part of the solution.
