Leonardo DiCaprio's "The 11th Hour" is a documentary concerning the environmental crises caused by human actions and calls for restorative action through a reshaping of human activity.
The mission of our community is to inspire action at every level: from
individual action, up through our communities, to the state, national
and international level. The actions are all shifting our civilization
to a sustainable future. Let's work and take action together. The time is now. The hope is you. Let's begin.
We opened the first meetup group in quebec under the topic of 1tth hour action.
The goal is about building public awareness about the urgency to do something about global warming.
We are experimenting on different ways to do that. Team work is big part of it and having fun doing it as well.
We want to mount different presentations in a modular form and present it as a team.
The meetings starts with a short presentation by each member on how to present his modeule to the public.

We are peoples contributing to the
integrity of the Planet in sustaining all forms of life. Our stand for
the Planet is our first message. We plea other to take now actions that
would make a difference on global awareness about this issue.

The Olympic Games are coming closer. The silence that has descended on the Tibetan cause since the first wave of protests against the Chinese Government were struck down brutally in March and foreign media representatives were expelled from the country is significant: China has converted Tibet into a police state. The oppression of the ethnic minority and any dissenters by police and army takes place behind closed doors. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Western governments keep silent. Financial and economic interests clearly count more than human rights Ð not of course a new phenomenon on our planet.
Nevertheless, it must be firmly stated that the actions of the Chinese in Tibet and the reactions of Western governments are disgraceful. Without collusion, how could the Chinese authorities isolate Tibet so completely and prohibit any freedom of opinion and expression?
It is scandalous that all this is taking place under the banner of the Olympic Games, and it is hard to believe that the Olympic fire, once considered the symbol of freedom, is allowed to burn over the whole shameful situation. If there were such an Olympic discipline as Òviolation of human rightsÓ, the Chinese would have won the gold medal long ago. While Tibet is muffled in silence as in an impenetrable blanket, the Chinese Government is carrying out a systematic purge in total secrecy Ð for there are of course no witnesses. Who knows how many monks or civil rights activists have been murdered during this time?
We do not want to look on any longer in silence, seeing human rights and press freedoms being trampled underfoot. That is why we plan to launch various acts of solidarity under the motto ÒIbiza shows the flagÓ, starting at the same time as the Olympic Games. On June XXXX at 6 p.m. (18:00 hours) we would like to have an exchange with you about the organization and exact procedure for these events. The meeting point is ECO in Sant Joan. And we count on your support!
There may be other major crises in our world, but one thing is clear: what the Chinese have been doing since the Dalai Lama had to flee in 1959 could very well be called a slow genocide. And we fail to exercise our own freedom of speech and opinion if we keep on tolerating the intrigues of the Chinese and the dictates of multinational economic interests.
To show your views, show the flag! Hang out flags! Take the opportunity of the Olympic Games (when foreign journalists and visitors are present in great numbers on the island) to remind the world that human rights are being trampled. Come to our brainstorming session. It is not about politics or religion: every human being with a heart and a brain should get involved.

My action is simple. I`m a teacher and a writer and this, our potential finest hour, is what is on my mind as I do it all.
We all have a role to play in this, and I think it is time that we all realize that how ever big or small, it all matters. This is the main thing to know. The main thing I took from the 11th hour... our history has made us who we are, and placed us here at this moment in tiime. Now, it`s time to value that... honor that place, and step up. `Politic` from Coldplay that ends the film... Everyone must find a place... open up your eyes... open up your eyes...
My eyes are open, and I'm teaching and writing to not turn away...
I have decided to give myself challenges to push myself to become more aware, environmentally creative, and see what I really am capable of doing. I encourage any of you to join me in these challenges if you so desire. If you do please let me know and update me on your progress. I know it is already a couple of days into June so I am cheating a little, but here it goes..... for the rest of the month of June I am going to try and only buy things for my husband and my (Plus our little man, our dog Moe) immediate needs. This means I will only be buying things like food, medicine, and things of these nature. As I do this I am going to take mental inventory of the things that I am wanting to buy that are not necessary and see if I can boot them out of my shopping list for good. I will check in about once a week and discuss any struggles I am having or confess to any money spent to something that was not related to a necessary need.
Although I must confess already, my goodness it's only been 2 minutes into the challenge and I am already confessing! I do have a train ride on Thursday into a province of China that I have not been to before, so I am afraid that I will be spending money there. I wish myself better luck as this progresses!
